Sorority Gifts to Make Your Little that Aren’t Canvases

If you are currently a member of a sorority, I think it’s safe to say we all remember the exciting memory of big little reveal week. Every day you would come back to your dorm with a huge basket left behind filled with tons of candy, canvases, and letter shirts.

Now the time has come and you are ready to take a little… but as I’m sure your big has told you, those amazing baskets you received come with a lot of preparation and hard work and that can be very hard to find time for when you’re dealing with your classes and other out of school responsibilities.
My biggest piece of advice is to start in the summer, this makes things a lot less stressful when all of your sisters are pulling all nighters perfecting their art pieces and you are kicking back and relaxing.

But also, I think a good idea would be to make sure your basket has things that are a little different from the typical reveal basket and hopefully things your little can actually use rather than 40 canvases that will sit in her closet for the next year.

1. Personalized Mug

Every girl loves coffee mugs! Especially during her first year of college when your little is going to be pulling several all nighters studying for exams, she’ll appreciate having a cute mug to drink coffee out of every day. All you need is a blank mug, a sharpie, and an oven and you have yourself the perfect gift!

2. Decorated Paddle

I know a lot of schools do this where bigs and littles exchange decorated paddles but for some reason this tradition has not been carried on at Clemson. I think this is a nice change from the canvas gifts and will definitely stand out in your little’s basket.

3. Jewelry Box

If you are like me and have spent a lot of time looking at ideas for gifts on Pinterest you will see these being called “pin boxes”; however, I think it would be a better and more useful gift if it were a jewelry box that your little could put her rings or bracelets in. All you need is a little wooden box from Michaels or Amazon, some paint, and maybe some rhinestones or pearls to embellish it however you like.

4. Personalized Flask, Shot Glasses, or Wine Glasses

Painted flasks are something that a lot of girls make for their dates for different functions or formals, but this could also be a good gift idea for a little! Another good idea that several girls do is decorating shot glasses or wine glasses and putting them in their baskets. After all, a Freshman girl can never have too many shot glasses in her dorm!
5. Painted Mason Jars or Wine Bottles

This is a super cute idea as a filler for the basket and also a great way to add to a color theme if you are doing a themed basket. Simply spray paint a Mason jar or wine bottle and then write whatever you want on it with a paint marker. You could fill the wine bottle with flowers and the Mason jar with candy or candles or pretty much anything you can fit in there!

6. Glitter dipped candles or decorated candle holders

Yes, I know that candles are not allowed in dorm rooms but to be honest, most girls have them in their anyway. Your little will love you for adding to her dorm décor and this gift will take you very little time to complete.

7. “Spa-in-a-jar”, “Manicure-in-a-jar”, or “Cocktail-in-a-jar”

This is a gift that people give to each other for birthdays or in a gift basket and it’s a super good idea to steal for big little reveal week. There are tons of ideas online to steal and all you have to do is fill up a mason jar with a few supplies and put in in your basket! An idea for a manicure in a jar would just be to have nail polish, a nail file, nail clippers, and nail polish remover pads.

8. Picture Frame

Dorm rooms tend to be filled with pictures, so why not add to the pile with a picture of you and your little! Decorate a picture frame however you like and where the picture is supposed to go simply insert something that says “replace with a picture of me and you in 3 days” or however many days are left until reveal time.

9. Baked Goods

This probably seems obvious for a lot of people reading this article but rather than putting a bunch of candy in your basket, spend some time with your sisters baking your little’s favorite baked good. She just got to college, she’s probably sick of the dining hall food already, and she will be so happy when she gets something that reminds her of home in her basket.

10. Gameday Clothes

Of course if you really love your little, make her day by getting her something for Gameday and there’s no better place to buy Gameday Gear than Gamebaes.com Shop…
