What To Wear Tailgating – Guide for College Students

custom tailgate clothing

While attending freshman year at Clemson University, this west coast girl experienced tailgating and gamedays like nothing ever before! One thing that college students must know about gamedays are that it’s all about what you wear!

In the South its all about sundresses and cowgirl boots. While this is a great and easy look for girls, sometimes you just want to stand out from the crowd. You’re only young once, so you might as well live it up! West coast girls really know how to mix it up on gamedays with their customized college tees and cheerleader skirts! Some of our favorite looks include acid wash halters with trendy daisy or stud trim paired with jeans, overalls, or skirts. Lace up shirts and sweatshirts are a huge trend right now across campuses nationwide.

One thing to realize about tailgating are that you will be doing a LOT of walking, so cowgirl boots may not be the most comfortable choice no matter how cute they may be! Comfort takes the win when you have a long day ahead so leave the heels to fancier functions and dress in sneakers or flats. There are some really cute gameday sneakers from skicks if you want to go all out for your team, but a simple pair of converse or Addidas sneakers are pretty popular around here.

One of the best parts about gameday is getting decked out for your team, so get in the spirit with facepaint and gameday tattoos! It’s an inexpensive and super cute way to add fun gameday fashion if you just need a little something extra!

One last tip for gameday is to always be prepared for the rain! Nothing is cute about running mascara and drenched hair! You can fit a small foldup rain poncho in a fanny pack or pocket and cheer your team on through the whole game!

When it starts getting cooler you can still look great with a scarf in team colors or a trendy custom college lace up sweatshirt. Pair with some jeans and sneakers and you’re good to go!
