Call for Papers
Languages of Education: the Chinese Context
‘The Languages of Education: the Chinese Context’ conference will be hosted by the Research Centre into Language Education and Acquisition in Multilingual Societies (RCLEAMS) (www.ied.edu.hk/rcleams/) at the Hong Kong Institute of Education, on October 22 – 23 2010.
Papers which address the following themes are invited:
The teaching and learning of minority languages in China
The teaching and learning of Chinese dialects/languages
The teaching and learning of Putonghua
The teaching and learning of English in the Chinese context
The role of the L1 and TL in language pedagogy
CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in the Chinese context
Learning languages as subjects and/or as media of instruction
The native and/or non-native teacher
The future of minority languages and dialects in the Chinese context
Language education policy in the Chinese context
The conference languages will be English and Putonghua. Abstracts should be 200-250 words long and can be submitted in either Chinese or English. Please indicate which of the above themes it addresses.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is March 31st, 2010. Prospective presenters will be informed whether their abstracts have been selected by May 1st.
